Red Devils want Dortmund star to revamp Old Trafford midfield.
Manchester United are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, according to the Daily Express.
The 22-year-old midfielder was influential in Dortmund’s Champions League semi-final win over Real Madrid and made 33 appearances for the Bundesliga outfit this term.
The Germany international, who is of Turkish descent but has won seven caps under Joachim Loew, was originally linked with Manchester City but interest from Eastlands has cooled, with United now considering Gundogan as a possible replacement for Paul Scholes.
Gundogan, however, was coy on his future, telling German sports daily Bild last month: “It is not reprehensible to answer such questions (of a future career in England or Spain) with ‘yes’.
