Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Paul Pogba will miss Manchester United’s Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday after being forced off with a hamstring problem during the 3-0 win over FC Basel.
The Frenchman, handed the captain’s armband for the very first time, overstretched to win the ball back and, after a few nervy paces, signalled to the bench and went off with a grimace after just 16 minutes.
He was replaced by Marouane Fellaini, who went on to score Man United’s first with bullet header and provide an assist for Marcus Rashford late on.
And Mourinho, speaking to BT Sport after the game, revealed that the 24-year-old would play no part on Sunday, noting: ‘No Paul for Sunday.”
