Paddy Crerand believes Manchester United signed the best player in the transfer window by keeping Wayne Rooney at the club this summer.
The 27-year-old attempted to orchestrate a move away from Old Trafford but David Moyes’ unnerving stance that he was not for sale at any price stood up to the test of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea attempts to sign him.
After repeated injuries, ‘angry and confused’ statements and a clear desire to move onto pastures new, Rooney looked destined to leave Old Trafford and Moyes’ success in keeping him at the club was the biggest victory in the transfer window according to Paddy Crerand.
